We moved from Orlando, FL to Maryville, TN almost a year ago. We love it here!
When we first moved, my daughter applied for a job at a little place called "The Capitol". She quickly became enamoured by it. It is a Coffee shoppe/Old Movie Theater/Art Exhibit place in the downtown area. I found out you could rent the theater out for private parties, which started my wheels turning.
My favorite movie in all the world is "The Sound of Music". As a little girl, we rarely went to movies, but we did go to this one. And I became obsessed. I talked my Dad into taking me back a dozen times. Even had dreams about Julie Andrews coming to pick me up in a convertible, and we'd go driving through the mountains (of Houston...HA!) as we sang all the songs from the movie together!
We have had the video and DVD for years, but stopped counting viewings after my 50th time. Watching it on TV cannot compare with the big screen.
So a Birthday is a great excuse for a party!
Rented the theater, invited friends, popped popcorn, bought baskets of candy and sodas and had a blast!
A few of us did a "pre-show" full of singing songs from the movie. We sounded pretty good!! Then as the orchestra played, one guy decided to skip gracefully around the room. It was a golden moment...
Here are a few pictures of the Capitol Theater:
This is the last of the "birthday posts". Hope everyone is enjoying your summer. Only a month, and school starts again here. Counting the days (the ones left before school starts, of course...)
I am...

How fun is that! Wish I could have been there to celebrate YOU and to sing some of my favoite songs as well! I'm so glad you had a great birthday! May you have many more filled with the abundant life Christ came to give!
Love, Carolynn
That sounds like a great time!!! The pre show musical must have been the best!
Party planning is not my strong suit, so your celebration has me rejoicing with you in more ways than one!
Hugs,
Marie (Ree-a)
What a neat idea for a birthday party. I will have to remember that one. I hope you had fun with all of your friends; it sounds like you did! Happy belated birthday!
P.S. By the way, I moved here from Florida about 15 years ago. I grew up in Lakeland. Somehow Central Florida just can't compare to East TN :)
